This my first blog post on our website… I’m learning new things all the time 🙂
So… here it goes 🙂 So, today (like every other day) was not a perfect day. Every morning, I wake up thinking, “I’ve got a whole day ahead of me! I’m going to get so much done! After all, I can do anything I put my mind to.” Well, yeah, that’s how I think. But, then the kids wake up 🙂 Don’t get me wrong… I LOVE being a mom! I am extremely blessed, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. But, my plans often get… um… interrupted 🙂
I really want to get my twins (they just turned 2) shirts that are labeled “Thing 1” and “Thing 2”. When I was pregnant, in my mind I fast-forwarded a couple of years. I thought, “Well, it could either be really easy because they’ll keep each other busy and just play all the time, or it will be extreme chaos and one will be getting into something while I’m getting the other out of something.” Second scenario all the way! They’re both sweet little girls, but boy can they be stinkers! You have no idea how much I miss my older kids when they aren’t here to help! We have a puppy in our kitchen right now (mostly because my daughter loves her and I haven’t had the heart to give her to anyone else). Well… Thing 1 and Thing 2 know how to open the panels on the cage and “release the captive”. Not only do they do that, but they proceed to enter into the puppy’s domain to get a snack. Yes, I do feed them, if you’re wondering, but they find puppy food to be very tasty and a good suck out of the water bottle to be quite refreshing. Occasionally, they’ll even sample the wood pellets (I guess they need more roughage in their diet). EWWW!!! Let me say that again… EWWWWWWW!!! You may be asking yourself, “Don’t you watch them?” Well, yes, I try! But they are SO FAST! If you want to come try out your mommy skills, you are more than welcome to come to my house for a couple hours while I go do absolutely nothing in an undisclosed location. I won’t mind 🙂
Ok… I think that will have to do for now… While I have been writing this (it hasn’t really been that long, honestly), I have had two girls come up with tears and minor injuries, which, of course were quickly forgotten, but, nevertheless, I need to get them ready for bed 🙂 Oh sweet bedtime! 🙂
As an encouragement to moms with young children, being a mom is hard, sometimes it’s frustrating, but ALWAYS it’s worth it! I am learning that, while I can do many things on my own, in my own might, the things that are important in this life can only be done with the help of my Savior. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) God doesn’t expect us to do everything on our own. We can’t… believe me… I’ve tried. Multiple times a day, I am reminded of how much I need His grace and am so thankful that He is willing to give it!
